Medical Hip Protectors are a primary tool in geriatric care to prevent hip and tail bone fracture due to common impacts such as falls. Hip fractures are common in the elderly for two major reasons. For one, an increased risk of falling due to reduced mobility and two weakening of bone with age due to osteoporosis.

Hip protectors have been extensively used and mandated for at risk patients both in aged care facilities and in independent living settings. Hip pads are made to be worn in in protective pants or underwear for adherence to facilities national and international OH&S requirements to meet the required compliance.
